yes, they are both good excerises. Yoga and pilates both aim towards gaining more control to your muscles, with will make it easier for you to stay fit and in shape.
It seems to–burn fat, that is. But it depends on the work-out. If you do a lot of flow in yoga it is very intense, and your heart rate increases and you sweat. Plus when you keep your muscles elastic, then tend to burn more energy. I can’t believe how much more toned my body is after I do yoga.
There are different types of Pilates. I use a resistance band, and my work-out is 45 minutes long. If you don’t go to a class, I’ve found that Denise Austen’s “Pilates for Every Body” is by far the best. I’ve used that DVD for over two years and I feel like I’m in the best shape ever.
