yoga is much more meditative and was developed by the Indians (not the Native Americans) thousands of years ago. pilates was developed soley for exercise.
Pilates will be more effective for toning the muscles, but certain types of yoga are better cardio workouts. I do both and find it works great as a combination.
yoga does not make you lose weight, just relaxes you..
pilates has lot of movements it makes u lose weight..but to be honest..running is better…10 mins of running = couple of hours of pilates till u sweat…its not worth spending that much time and get slow results..RUNNING is the best weight losing technique

Pilates is a floor exercise that tones, Yoga is streching and meditation. Pilates is more work, Yoga increases your flexibility.
