i also feel my abs working. because of the pumping movement of the arms, you constantly have to correct your balance with your abs.
at least, that’s what i get out of it
The pumping is supposed to correspond to the breath AND tone the arms by keeping them long and active and by making sure lev. scapulas are aimed at the hip sockets.
The fundamental “angel arms” sets you up for that. Basically pilates should be taught by a knowledgable private instructor, these hacks are bogus.
Question: over the years i still don’t get what this does? What does the pumping of arms do? I figure its about lower back being flat and while breathing out bringing the navel to spine and having the legs raised creates the resistance. So, that is what i focus on, but i just don’t get anything from the pumping. Any comments appreciated coz i would like to get this right one day
